The Eastside German Language School (EGLS) has been offering German language classes and cultural activities to the communities east of Seattle since 1971.
At EGLS, students of all ages, from pre-school to adult, learn German in a friendly, encouraging environment.
Our qualified, experienced teachers use an immersion-based method of teaching in all classes. They speak German to young students as they play, read books, make crafts, cook, and perform plays. As children grow, they use textbooks and multi-media to teach grammar and writing. Adult classes include both grammar lessons and conversation opportunities.
Cultural celebrations give students an opportunity to learn the historic significance of events and celebrate the way people do in German-speaking countries. Celebrations include Laternenumzug, Nikolausfeier, Weihnachtsfest, Fasching, and Maifest.
Classes are held Saturday mornings, from September through May, from 9:30 to noon. The school is located two miles from I-90 (exit 18) in the foothills of the Issaquah Alps. If you’d like to stop by for a visit, contact us below!
