Learning German at EGLS

The Eastside German Language school offers classes for students of all language levels and ages, from toddlers to adults.

All students learn in a friendly environment through German language immersion and level-appropriate curriculum, which includes crafts, poetry, song, writing, reading, and celebrating cultural events.

Classes are held from September through May. There are 30 classes offered during the school year with breaks for various holidays. See the School Calendar for dates and event information.

Classes begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at noon, with a short break at 11:00 a.m. for a snack and recess.

Parents prepare their children for the school day by:

  • Walking their children to their classrooms and signing the children in and out of class.
  • Providing a snack for their children such as pretzels, cheese and crackers, fruit, or a sandwich, and drink (water is available at the school).
  • Providing a backpack or school bag of some kind for the children’s craft projects, books, pencils, and school work.
  • Ensuring their child is appropriately dressed for the weather, since recess is taken outside.

Parents and extended family members are always encouraged to share in the "Gemuetlichkeit" (sociability) of events and celebrations during the school year!
