The EGLS library has over 100 German books, cd’s, DVD’s, and cassettes available for the use of students and their families. These items help you and your child practice German anytime and at every level, and offer a wonderful insight into the culture and traditions of German speaking lands.
Books are available for many levels of learners, from board books to picture books, both non-fiction and fiction. The "Tim und Struppi" and "Lucky Luke" comic books are very popular with students who might not be comfortable enough with the German language to read a novel. EGLS also has several books that are specifically for German language learners, such as "Einer singt falsch" from the "Deutsch als Fremdsprache" series, "First German at School", and "Internet-Linked German Dictionary for Beginners" from Usborne. Some teachers accompany their classes to the library to assist students in finding level appropriate books.
Reading and hearing German through books, video, and music has many advantages:
Library items are available every Saturday during class hours in the cafeteria, and can be checked out for one week or more. Students must be registered to check out books.
The EGLS library accepts new and gently used items! Please contact info@egls.us.
We love our volunteers and we feel so fortunate to have the great support of our parents to run the library at our school. The positions of the EGLS Library Committee Members are still open and it would be great if we could fill them with your help.
The King County Library System also has a collection of over 200 German Language titles, which include books, videos, DVD’s, and cd’s.
